Meet Terra.
Terra Anne Phair earned her degree in Mass Communications from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois and began her post collegiate career as an on-air news anchor for 1340 WJOL news radio. From there she worked in media buying for Interpublic Group and shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles and began working for Generate, a talent management, TV and film production company. After a few years in LA, the desire to return home was calling so she moved to Chicago and started working for a boutique WBE general contracting firm. Terra experienced firsthand the power of kindness combined with ambition, grit and most importantly hard work. From there she took a dream job working for the queen herself, Oprah Winfrey. Working in this fast-paced, no two days are the same, facilities management department at Harpo Studios was an experience she will cherish forever. This is where her passion for helping people, talent management and leadership development really came to light.
Once season 25 of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” wrapped Terra decided to pursue a new adventure with Energy BBDO, an Omnicom Company, as their Manager of Space and Hospitality. There she learned how to navigate through the vast sea of personalities and talents which helped form close and dependable relationships with key players of the company. It was here that her desire to manage, help people succeed in their careers and develop talent became her mission. A company decision to outsource Terra’s role landed her with Jones Lang LaSalle, a global powerhouse in both real estate and investment management services. Expanding her role as Program’s Manager, she learned the ins and outs of how to navigate through corporate, and even more importantly she learned the most about herself.
Now a working mom she struggled like most parents do with finding balance. Through hard work & numerous achievements, Terra was selected to participate in JLL’s Management University as well as JLL’s Leadership Development Program that is only offered to 1% of company employees. It was in this program that she discovered career coaching. After a year working with a coach, Terra’s perspective of how she worked and also the type of work she was doing changed forever.
Throughout her 18+ year career Terra has witnessed first-hand the challenges of being a female in the predominately male industry, fighting for equal recognition and pay. The struggle of being an “empath” in a sea of hardened professionals, wasn’t always an easy journey but it was one full of learning and commitment to push through.
Working through a pandemic transformed her and she couldn’t ignore the calling any longer and decided to continue her education by earning her certification in Career Coaching through the Life Purpose Institute. She is now excited and ready to help you find your own way in becoming the best version of yourself in both your professional and personal life.
